About Tameka . . . AKA Future Publishing &Media Mogul

I’ve known only one place as home in all of my 35 years of life.  That place is Richmond, Virginia where I was born and raised, right in the heart of Jackson Ward and Mosby Court housing projects. Back then, those places were considered rough areas to live in but I think it’s definitely gotten a lot worse these days.  As bad as it was, more children were able to play in their neighborhoods safely without an overwhelming sense of poverty or hopelessness that I see today.  I attest my sense of street savvy to the experiences and knowledge I gained as a youngster growing up in these very streets and yet I still managed to do extremely well academically in school; especially in writing.

A love of writing was instilled in me at a very young age by my mother who taught me to read on my own at the age of 3.  As soon as I could write, I did; and on any and everything I could get my hands on.  I’ve filled up hundreds, maybe thousands of notebooks of all sizes with scribbled writing and big dreams.  I’ve earned numerous awards during my school career for various writing and prose contests that I entered and won.

Even growing up in a two parent household couldn’t protect me from the hard and harsh realities of the world that I was exposed to at an early age.  Luckily writing had become an outlet that allowed me to create an entirely new world of possibilities that was a break from the real world.  I graduated at the top of my class and went on to travel the world seeing and experiencing a once of a lifetime trip to Europe.  I’ve had the pleasure of exploring Germany, Paris, London, Switzerland and Amsterdam.

In 2005 my first book “Divine Glory” was published by PublishAmerica (ISBN 978-1413758757) a year after the birth of my oldest son.  I wed the love of my life and had two more boys and a girl.  I used to work in the Finance industry full-time while following my dream part time.  My best work is yet to come.  Creatively I think I’m getting better every day.  I have learned from my mistakes and won’t accept failure.  I’m positive that my past is no indication of my future.  I am determined and capable.  I have the Lord on my side and the support of my loving husband and family.

I have great plans in store for Pleasants Publishing and I hope you all will join me and my family on our ride to creating a Publishing & Media empire!  God Bless and thank you for supporting my dream!

Be Blessed Always,

Tameka
